Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Iqtidah (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you use the Iqtidah mobile application (“the App”), how we use it, and the choices you have.
We've tried to write this in plain language. If anything is unclear, please reach out to us at info@iqtidah.com.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
- Google account email and name — only when you choose to sign in with Google. Sign-in is optional.
- Location (city or coordinates) — when you grant location permission, used to compute prayer times and qibla direction.
- Questions you send to Islamic Q&A — sent to our AI provider so we can return an answer.
1.2 Information we collect automatically
- Device identifiers (an anonymous device ID and Firebase Cloud Messaging token) — used to deliver notifications and to attribute your sunnah completions to your device.
- App activity — your sunnah completions, streak progress, quiz scores, and similar in-app interactions.
- Crash logs and basic diagnostics — to fix bugs and improve stability.
We do not collect: your contacts, your photos, your microphone, your SMS, your call history, or your browsing activity outside the App.
2. How we use the information
We use the data above only to:
- Deliver the core features (prayer times, qibla, Quran, hadith, sunnah tracking, AI Q&A).
- Send you notifications you have explicitly opted into.
- Sync your streak and preferences across your devices when you're signed in.
- Improve stability and content quality.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Where your data is stored
- App data and accounts are stored on Vercel (serverless platform) and Neon (PostgreSQL database), located in the United States.
- Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google), located in the United States.
- Notifications are delivered via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- AI responses for Islamic Q&A are generated by a third-party AI provider; questions are sent for processing and we retain a copy of the question and answer to improve quality.
All data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS / TLS.
4. How long we keep it
- Account data is retained as long as your account is active.
- Sunnah completion records are retained as long as your account is active or until you delete the data.
- Crash logs are retained for up to 90 days.
- Anonymous device data may persist on the device until you uninstall the App.
You may request deletion of all your data at any time (see Section 6).
5. Children's privacy
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
6. Your rights
You can:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Delete your account and all associated data.
- Withdraw consent for location or notifications at any time from your device settings.
- Disable cloud sync by signing out.
